Muncaster Castle
Muncaster Castle, Gardens and World Owl Centre is one of the best places to visit in the Lake District for a fun family day out! The Independent Newspaper voted Muncaster No 1 in their list of the top 50 "Best Spring Days Out".
Discover the extensive Gardens, blessed with breathtaking views all year round and famed for their rhododendrons (best during March - June). Relish the 77 acres of 18th Century Gardens with miles of pathways meandering through the woods and the 12th century Church of St Michael and All Angels, which nestles within the grounds.
Enjoy the historic ‘haunted’ Castle and the fascinating World Owl Centre. Be amazed by seeing more than 200 owls of over 50 species and don't miss the Meet the Birds display which takes place daily. Wonder and watch as the Wild Herons flock to Heron Happy Hour as the team feed them daily.
The Muncaster Interactive computer suite and the MeadowVole Maze are also open daily and with playgrounds for the children, cafe, gift shops and a Plant Centre there is something for all. With our yearly events programme, which will entertain all year round, there’s always plenty to see and do!
