Dalemain
Dalemain, on the Northern fringes of the Lake District is easily accessible from the M6 and is a real treasure. This fantastic, family owned historic house and gardens contains behind its Georgian facade, a wealth of Tudor and Mediaeval rooms and buildings.
Head to the mediaeval tea room for homemade lunches, cakes and snacks, many prepared with produce from the estate. Have a stroll around the shops in the courtyard on the way.
Take a walk through 5 acres of richly planted herbaceous borders with an intriguing and unusual combination of flowers. See how the Gardens have developed during the passing generations of owners for all to enjoy. Let the children discover the sleeping giantess and the box hedge dragon.
