A family-run historic house with strong literacy connections in a fantastic setting. Live piano music and children's quiz in house. Four woodland playgrounds, lakeside and poetry walks in the grounds. Excellent tearoom specialising in Cumbrian food.

Open from April until the end of October 2010.

The gardens, playgrounds, lakeside walk and tearoom are open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The house is open on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons (also Friday afternoons in August) from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm (last entries 4:30 pm).
